Parish Council Update:  Strategic Planning, Revisiting our Mission, and Parish Survey

The Parish Council welcomes new member Joy Fernandes.  The following parishioners and clergy also serve on the Parish Council:  Tom Bertsch, Fr. Sherwin Colaste (ex officio), Michelle James, Flo Kurttila (ex officio), Robert Love, Fr. Liam mac Carthy (ex officio), Tony O’Brien, and Felicia Popoola.  Parish volunteer Judy Pinney serves as secretary.

The Parish Council is working with an ad hoc committee (Fr. Sherwin Colaste, Ruth Kaiser, Bob Leach, Robert Love, Fr. Liam mac Carthy, Florence Kurttila and Tony O’Brien) to develop a strategic plan for the parish that will include long-term goals and objectives.  We are in the initial stages of drafting the strategic plan.  The Council is consulting with Sister Katherine Doyle who has experience working with parishes to develop effective strategic plans.  Sister Katherine brings wonderful gifts and experience to the process, and we are lucky to have her.

The Parish Council hopes to have the strategic plan drafted by June.  The first step in the process is to revisit our vision statement (what we aspire to) and mission statement (who we are, what we do, and who we serve).  We are looking for input from our entire parish community.

Last week members of the Parish Council passed out surveys to our parishioners asking for feedback on our mission and vision statements, as well as their thoughts on the strengths and weaknesses of our parish.  We are distributing the surveys again at Masses this weekend (September 19 and 20).  It is our hope that parishioners will take time to complete the surveys and bring them back no later than the weekend of September 26 and 27.  That is the deadline for completing the surveys.  Completed surveys can be turned into the collection baskets at any Mass by September 20.  They may also be turned into the Parish Office.  Another option is to take the survey online by going to:
